The Samsung Galaxy tab has just been made official and it is what is getting the maximum attention at the IFA 2010, and we have some tidbits on Samsung’s plans for its Tablet PC future.
Techradar reports that Samsung will soon commence work, along with their international partners, on a Gingerbread upgrade for the Samsung Galaxy Tab. However, it is unlikely to go beyond that. This would mean that the Galaxy Tab will not be getting an upgrade to Android Honeycomb.
WP Hong, head of Product planning at Samsung, has also confirmed that Samsung will be bringing out additional Tablet PC models in the coming year and that these would have a different version of the operating system as compared to the Galaxy Tab.
We know that Samsung is already working on a 10″ Tablet PC and Tablet devices of other screen sizes. These devices when launched next year could come with Android Gingerbread OS too.
Hong has also apparently confirmed that they are also working on a next generation Tablet device, which should come out with the Android Honeycomb OS, that is specifically made for tablet pc devices. Samsung promises to release this Honeycomb based Tablet device in the year 2011.
