Neofonie WeTab running MeeGo, spotted at IFA

The Neofonie WeTab, or the WePad as it was called earlier, is certainly a Tablet device that deserves more credit than it has received so far. However, with all the false starts and endless delays, one cannot really blame anyone for totally forgetting about the WeTab Tablet.

It has now suddenly turned up at the IFA 2010 in Berlin, and surprisingly it is running the MeeGo operating system, a customized version of it, that is. The customizations seem to have been done keeping in mind the original WePad’s Android OS. The new MeeGo UI also seems pretty responsive and more importantly, stable. This is good news given the fact that the WeTab is now expected to launch by end of September.

We had just wished for a good hardware platform that could do justice to the MeeGo OS, and we have got one in the WeTab now. With an Intel Atom N450 1.66 GHz processor, GMA 3150 based integrated graphics, a 11.6″ 1366 x 768 pixel capacitive touch screen, and the works, one can’t ask for better hardware specs.

The German website, NewGadgets has a hands-on video, take a look at the new WeTab with the meeGo OS below and let us know what you think.
