HP has always been open, especially after the Palm acquisition, about their plans to come out with a WebOS based tablet PC. If you have been current on all tablet information, you will know that we have already spoken about the possibility of such a device before the year end.
HP now seems to be taking things ahead with filing a trademark application for the ‘PalmPad’ name. Seriously, PalmPad – i am disappointed, couldn’t think of a more inspiring name. I liked ‘HP Hurricane‘ better – It had a sense of power and urgency that assured you that it was destined for a 2010 launch, but maybe its just me!. What do you all think of this name ? Please let us know through your comments.
We have to add a disclaimer that there isn’t anything further to go by for us to be sure PalmPad is going to be HP’s WebOS based tablet PC, It could be any thing form this long list below, which are the categories under which the patent has been filed.
“Computers, computer hardware, computer software, computer peripherals, portable computers, handheld and mobile computers, PDAs, electronic notepads, mobile digital electronic devices.”
We have also reported recently about HP’s windows 7 tablet PC, which too is expected by end of the year. There are already rumors doing the rounds that HP has either shelved or delayed their Android tablet PC plans. They are obviously projecting WebOS as an alternaive to Android, so my guess would be that there is never going to be an Android tablet from HP.
