Olive has announced the indian iPad killer the Olive Pad VT 100 Android tablet PC, and it should be available in the retail shelve by August.
The Olive Pad VT100 features a 600 MHz Qualcomm M7227 chipset, 512 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM, 7″ capacitive touchscreen, and runs on the Android OS. This would be the first tablet PC device in India to support 3G and 3.5G HSUPA. It also supports Wifi, bluetooth, and GPS for maps and turn by turn directions, and should cost around Rs. 25,000 (around $540).
With Indian operators on the verge of launching full fledged 3G services, and with the Apple iPad still not officially available in India, Olive is trying to make hay while the sun shines. Excepting the 512 MB RAM, the rest of the specs are of a typical low end. Definitelt not something that could command a price point of Rs 25,000. However, there is no competition in immediate sight, with Apple non committal about an Indian launch yet, and Notion Ink, the other Indian iPad Killer manufacturer, has still not announced official launch dates.
