HP Slate 500, windows 7 Tablet, appears on HP website

We just posted about Microsoft confirming a HP windows 7 tablet PC before the end of the year at the WPC 2010, and the Slate 500 has already made its appearance on the HP website. The Slate 500 features an Intel Atom Z530 1.6 GHz processor, 1 GB RAM, Windows 7 OS, an 8.9″ screen, and an Energy Star certification. It also has a special HP software that provides access to videos, photos, and ability to doodle on it with a pen.

Talking about Windows based Tablet PCs, we have already seen that the Hanvon tablet PC has not been doing well in the China market, and sales have been below expectations. The HP Slate 500 could therefore be the device that determines the fate of Windows tablet PCs in the global market. The indication has not been very encouraging for Microsoft so far, and it could prove to be a decisive factor for their future in the tablet PC market.
