July 28th, 2010Another cheapo Android tablet from the hitherto unknown tablet PC manufacturer Augen. The good news is it seems to be available right now at your local Kmart. This tablet PC called the Gentouch 78, has a 7″ 800 x 480 touchscreen, a 800 MHz unknown CPU, 256 MB RAM, Wifi, runs on Android 2.1, with access to the Android market app store.
Augen also has another interesting device up their sleeve. TheBook eReader, is an eBook reader as the name suggests. Priced at $89, it is also interestingly specced with a 7″ 800 x 480 color LCD screen (no eInk screen for the TheBook), runs Linux (no Android here again). Its basically a primitive tablet PC, with a QWERTY keyboard and other buttons, no touch screen, basic features like browsing, eBooks, a Notepad, MP3/MP4 audio and video player, and a very interesting Test-to-Speech function.
