Liquavista Vivid claims to be better than Pixel Qi

We spoke about the Pixel Qi earlier, now its Liquavista that has announced the Vivid. Liquavista is a spin-off of the Netherlands based Philips research. Four other major investors back this project – GIMV Belgium, Amadeus UK, Prime Technologies Netherlands, and Applied materials.

Tega tablet from Tegatech australia

Tegatech, an Australia based company, is in the process of launching the “Tega”, a TabletPC based on the Intel Atom N270 and the Intel 950 integrated graphics. Tega is manufactured under technical collaboration with Chinese company K.B.T., which supported it in the development of the firmware and the touchscreen.

iPad heals young patients

After Restaurants, and Airlines, it is now the turn for a Hospital – iPads are now being used in the health care sector. Doctors at the St. Louis Children’s Hospital believe that iPads help patients admitted in the hospital to cope with their treatments.

Tyler Robetrson, a child specialist at the hospital opined that iPad can help the treatment process in three ways. “Education, Distraction and Preparation”. He citied an example where iPad was used to let a young patient know a bit about kidneys in the pediatric kidney dialysis unit. This way the patient has an idea of the organ, the likely diseases and ways to overcome them.

There is also a report from Japan that iPad helped doctors during a surgical operation.The iPad was carried to the operation theater wrapped in a sterile transparent material.The doctors had used pinch to zoom feature of the iPad to have a detailed 3D view of the PACS images so that they have a better idea of the actual condition of the patient and help them guide the scalpels to save the patients life.

Dolphin uses iPad to communicate with trainers

A two year old dolphin named Merlin uses the ipad to communicate with his trainers. The quite curious Merlin, who showed complete willingness to examine the iPad is the first of his species to join the Apple iPad community.
