LG Display has shipped about 800,000-900,000 9.7-inch iPad panels in May, up from over 700,000 units in April, 470,000 units in March, and 300,000 units in February.
Samsung Electronics, joining the game, will start volume shipments of 9.7-inch panels for the Apple iPad in July with monthly shipments reaching 300,000-500,000 units, according to market sources.
Digitimes Research analyst Kuo Ming-Chi said monthly shipments of the iPad have reached 1.2 million units, up from the 700,000 units per month when the product was first introduced to the market, and the monthly shipments may reach 2.5 million units by the end of 2010.
All this Should give us an idea of how many iPads Apple expects to sell. Apple had initially launched thier iPad in select countries only, and now with more countries getting thier hands on the iPad, monthly shipments are going to go up significantly.
Kuo noted that the current cost of a 9.7-inch iPad panel with a touch module is about US$80-90.
